What has happened to my bodily functions???

Image
Okay my fellow 50 somethings.  Admit it, the station wagon brings back memories doesn’t it? I remember jumping from seat to seat and fighting with my sisters.  I could jump fast enough that my mom couldn’t catch me and backhand me.  Now I can hardly crawl into the car with the door wide open and a spring on my ass to push me. I remember the 3rd seat.  Sitting facing backwards and making faces at cars behind us and thinking we were soooo funny.   Good clean fun. I actually had to drive the “family wagon” when I first got my license.  It was so embarrassing but hey, I had wheels.  After my 3rd “accident” of hitting a school bus, I realized it was a good thing I had a tank to drive.   Maybe my parents knew something I didn’t.   I know a few people who think I should probably still have the wagon.   Staying home is starting to be my new plan.   We recently made a SATURDAY trip to Costco.   Have you ever been to Costco on a ...

I sure seem to struggle lately taking time to write this.  It's not that I don't have time (just ask my recliner).  My goal is to now do it monthly and recap how my month went.       We started the month by setting up an ADULT kool aid stand at a benefit golf tournament.  A young gal in town has breast cancer and we decided to have dixie cups of "adult" drinks for a donation.  (again….   Can you say BEES!!!)   It was a great time with our second family.  I will say people in our community are so generous.  I will also say that the Kool Aid WAS YUMMY!!!!   So yummy in fact that I think I had to go to bed very early.   So yummy that I may have dumped several coolers from the 2 wheel cart trying to get them to the car.  So yummy that I probably won't have any again until next year.  So yummy you wake up the next day and remember all the conversations you had – slap your head – and t...

Who are you calling a senior citizen!!!

Image
SO…   I am seriously doing continuing education for work and one of the classes I need to take is on “Seniors and Investing”.  Ok.  I get it.   Bad bad people these days try to take advantage of seniors so it makes total sense to learn what the signs are.  Right?? UNTIL   I get to the part that states,  “Seniors are considered anyone over the age of 60.  Although some studies show 55 and above as being senior!”  (😳😳😳) At this point in my training, I broke into a sweat, started shaking, peed a little and my hip started hurting all at the same time.   55!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   That’s my age!  When did I become a senior???  I remember when my dad turned 40.  His friends threw him a surprise party IN A BAR!!!   A BAR!!!   I was appalled.   What 40 year old wants their birthday party in a bar??  Shouldn’t it be at the community center with cake and coffee and ‘treats’?    I will tell you that my ...

OKAY.  It's been way long since I've posted a blog.  Not sure why.    It's not that I haven't been busy, it's not that I haven't done a ton of stupid shit, it's not that I haven’t had several hundred hours of couch time… so why is it???   No really?  You have to tell me because I have no clue.   This will be my 3 rd  summer now of blogging and I know you all are sick of my whining about how I hate heat.  BUT…. I HATE HEAT!!     At least in the fall, winter and spring I can go into my closet room ( yep… that's what it's called.)  A closet room.  We turned a bedroom in our house into a walk in closet.  And not because of my stuff.  (My purse closet is a whole other blog story🧐).  It's because of my husband's clothes.  I swear he has every shirt he has ever owned AND they are all on hangers.  Why wouldn't a person hang a gray t-shirt with the sleeves cut off and holes starting around the chest (...

Get Fit Challenge 2.0

Image
So it’s been 2 years since I started my fitness challenge and here we are.    I have been faithful about doing my workouts and the ‘breakfast club’ girls keep me accountable.  I even paid for another 6 months for this year.  (We are on our 3rd trainer so not sure what that says about us😝) I really expected to look like Cindy Crawford at 50 by now.  I feel like I am in better shape than I’ve been a long time (probably ever) but my shape is also ROUND.  I can’t seem to get rid of the mushroom growing around my middle.  (Will totally admit I am not a good dieter. ). I work out therefore I can drink beer and eat carbs RIGHT?? Guess I am not a good in moderation. So now it’s a new year and I am still using the menopause excuse and my acid reflux excuse and well I do work out excuse and I live in the cold tundra excuse and I have to cook for my hubby so I might as well eat excuse AND HOLY HELL!!!  Time to do something.   We booked a trip to...

Anyone else ready for a new year??  I sure am.   I started this blog almost 2 years ago when Covid started.  SO……  Covid is still here                    I’m still going through hot flashes                    No amount of burpees are going to get rid of my                                                                 menopause mushroom                    With that, here is my 2022 planner and my mantra…….. These last few months have been a whirlwind of randomness.   In September, my daughter and I took a girls trip to South Padre Island in Texas.  We rented a car - which I actually got through AARP because...

Summer of 2021

Image
It’s the end of August.  Holy hell.  I am not going to lie.  I am ready for fall.  There is nothing a vertically and weight challenged girl hates more than to sweat CONSTANTLY!!!  So done with it. WELLLLLL……..Had a family vacation in July.  And by family I mean FAMILY!!!   Parents, siblings, in laws, out laws, big kids, little kids.  ALL OF THEM!!!   We rented a house on Ottertail River.  ( see story from last June and Chelsey’s weekend. Same house).   It was a great getaway.  Some stayed the weekend and some the whole week.   I got roped in to joining the “Fischer Flop” bean bag tournament.  They needed one more person.  Now you have to remember when it comes to anything sports related that takes coordination or aim or talent, I am usually the last one picked and my family actually stands around with fingers crossed that we have odd numbers so I can be a spectator.  Well, my poor niece ended up with m...
