I can’t believe it’s been over a month since I’ve put anything on my blog.  Every spring I think, it’s going to be a relaxing summer...  we hardly have anything going on and BAM!!!  All of a sudden every weekend is full.  I guess that’s not a horrible thing.   Had my annual girls fishing trip in June.  Always a fun adventure and we added another gal this year.   We went a day earlier than normal so we could have a day to hang out and maybe do some bar hopping.  Pretty sure none of the places we went to were quite ready for us 😝.   We sure got some strange looks.  This was our last year at Lake of the Woods and I cannot say I am one bit sad.  We got up Friday early to go fishing and the weather was beautiful AT THE RESORT!!  Got on our boat (after the captain had to mention that we added 300 extra pounds with just our coolers....  guess men go out to fish, not drink.). So that started us out thinking WOW - we get to...

Struggle is my middle name

Image
To say the last month has been interesting would be an understatement.  After the past year plus of blogging most of you know that I struggle daily with things and it’s a good thing I can laugh at myself.  It’s also good that my husband loves me unconditionally since he has to put up with me more than anyone.     But I will say this thing I call life is fun and an adventure. Still working out and still loving it (even if I complain when I am doing it.). Our morning crew is the best. I know I have filled you in on my misadventures at the gym in the past but these 2 may be the highlight of the year. First I started a Thursday morning off by dropping a 45lb weight on my foot.  Yep.  Only me.   In my defense, there was a conversation at another station I was missing and pretty sure I needed to be involved in.   So the back story....  this is the same foot I have had surgery on for tearing a tendon on a treadmill, dropped a 2 x 4 on ...

Four Seasons - One Week

Image
There is a lot of truth to the above statement.  It’s a struggle everyday!!  There are times I need to put bandages on my tongue from biting it so hard.  These past weeks have been no exception. It’s depressing enough to watch the news and what is going on but COME ON!!  The weather is getting to be the most talked about news in the Midwest.   All in one week, I had the windows open - then closed.  The heat was on and sweatshirts had to be warn.  Then it got so hot we had the air conditioner on only to wake up and it was 28 degrees out and colder than that inside.   AND when did we start living in the Windy City??  Every time I turn around I have a new hair do and fake eyelashes flapping behind my sunglasses.  (Better than other things that could flap I guess 🧐) I have to believe one of these days I may have to go outside in “summer” clothing.  I need to take a day off of work to prepare for the tune up needed for this task....

Menopause, Seriously?? OR Seriously Menopause??

Image
Okay, you know exactly what I am talking about gals right??   Does anyone really know when they start and finish menopause??   Not going to lie, (and my family can attest) I have had mood swings since before I could talk full sentences.  And I can still throw a temper tantrum better than most.   This is a whole new ballgame.   The difference now is I can pretty much cry just walking out of a room and don’t ask me why I did something.  I will snap you in half and then sit on the floor and bawl like a baby. And 😓 sweating?  Come on.  I have friends from way back that still make fun of me for how much I sweat - even before menopause.    I love when I wake up in the middle of the night and have to shower and change pajamas because they are soaked.  (Remember the good old days when we used to sweat in bed for other reasons??  🙌 hmmmmmm )   On my last girls weekend, I learned that you can buy deodorant for your hoohaw s...

Here we go again

So....  As some you may remember, I started this blog a year ago after a weekend away with my grade school/middle school/high school posse.  I cannot believe it’s been a year.  Before I tell you about our latest escapades, I need to thank them for encouraging me to share the things that happen in my life.  I love writing and hope you enjoy reading them. After having to cancel in November, we finally were able to get together and plan a weekend.  There may be different sides to each story BUT I will tell you how I saw things (and since it’s my blog, it’s the whole truth🤥🤥) One of the gals and I show up Friday afternoon and lug all our stuff into the awesome house we rented on a lake.  No one offered to help, no one yelled hello, no one even greeted us at the door.  Talk about anti climatic.  I was kinda expecting a small reception with hooting and hollering and OMG...  You gals are here.   Hmmmm.  Really??  No parade?? ...

Vacation AARP Style

Image
I know.  Vacation is currently a 4 letter word in our lives but yes.  I did go on a vacation.   I think I mentioned the “$39” tickets a couple of months ago.  Well after many questions and checking things out we decided to go for it and boarded a plane to Nashville.  Then we UNboarded a plane to Nashville.  Guess we needed some new parts and there was not a mechanic to be found anywhere in the Fargo/Moorhead area.  And since Scott did not pack his duct tape (which we all know fixes everything) we got off the plane and everyone took off on a dead run to the bar in the airport.   We finally took off and since I am not a quitter I had to purchase a few beverages on the way.  What the hell.   I was on vacation.  We got to Nashville, got our luggage and all was good.  UNTIL I needed to get us an Uber.  Mind you.  I have ridden in UBER’S (is that what they are called??) before but pretty sure I have never had to summ...

New Year!  New me!!  At least that is what I tell myself.  9am New Years Day...  Spending the day with my family for our annual Christmas.  My job is to make the beer cheese soup.  My ADHD kicks in high gear as I start melting butter on the stove. BAM...  I need a fun headband to match my ugly sweater for today.  Run downstairs quick to grab one.  Out of no where, a brick snowman jumps out and lands on my foot.  Worst pain ever.  I am doing the whole dramatic hand on the forehead, lay on the ground, scream, cry, hyperventilate...  You get the picture.  Then I remembered my soup and the stove.  I hobble upstairs and wrapped my toes.  So there I stood in the kitchen with my foot bleeding into an ice bag trying not to burn the stuff on the stove.  And sleeping beauty didn’t hear a thing until I went to wake him up to go. Christmas gathering’s are always interesting with my family.  We’ve done white elephan...
