Here we go again
So.... As some you may remember, I started this blog a year ago after a weekend away with my grade school/middle school/high school posse. I cannot believe it’s been a year. Before I tell you about our latest escapades, I need to thank them for encouraging me to share the things that happen in my life. I love writing and hope you enjoy reading them.
After having to cancel in November, we finally were able to get together and plan a weekend. There may be different sides to each story BUT I will tell you how I saw things (and since it’s my blog, it’s the whole truthπ€₯π€₯)
One of the gals and I show up Friday afternoon and lug all our stuff into the awesome house we rented on a lake. No one offered to help, no one yelled hello, no one even greeted us at the door. Talk about anti climatic. I was kinda expecting a small reception with hooting and hollering and OMG... You gals are here. Hmmmm. Really?? No parade?? No confetti? What is this???
So as we walk into the living room I see why...... There sits 4 of my classmates in recliners with lap blankets on. Yes... You heard me right - lap blankets. Lol ππ€£. They actually admitted to getting up and getting a drink so we wouldn’t think they were old. Sorry girls, didn’t work. π
Now I am not sure if any of you have had slumber parties with young women in their “fifties” but conversation is sure different than it used to be. Half of us are sitting in shorts and tank tops with a fan on us because we are sweating and the other half now has slippers AND lap blankets on. There starts the conversation on menopause and weight and exercise and kids wrecking out bodies.
Then we crank up the 80’s music because as you know THERE IS NO OTHER DECADE of greater music. So we are doing Van Halen jumps that used to be natural and we could actually get some air. We are playing guitar better than any hair metal band member ever has and we are singing like we own it!! But instead of glistening and looking ‘hot’ like the girls in the old MTV videos, this now causes bruised feet, peeing in our pants, and picking up uterus parts on the floor. Great times. Great conversation. Great laughs.
All in all it was another wonderful weekend with a group of friends that have been in my life for over 40 years. I cannot wait to do it again!!!
