Tis That Time of Year

Well…  the season is upon us.  Yep… the season is here!!

November was a busy month for sure.  I had the joy of experiencing the BIGGEST craft show I have ever been too.  It was at Canterbury Downs in Shakopee and OMG!!   First let me preface that the 3 I went with have gone every year for 20 years.  (And no this is not them below - this is me after finishing the day.) So they knew what they were doing.  Our first night, we went to a HUGE casino and while 2 of them gambled, 2 of us walked around, got lost and drank beer.   As long as you walked around the circle, you could always find the bar.   Not sure I was very impressive by the time we went back to the hotel.

The next morning we all got up and in true Jodi fashion I was ready to go!  I have learned over the years with my husband, YOU GET UP, YOU GET YOUR CRAP TOGETHER AND YOU LEAVE.  Doesn't matter if you look like you slept in a dumpster the night before.  YOU GET IN THE CAR AND GO!!!   So I was ready when it was time to go.  And you all know how much I LOVE hotel bathrooms!!   My 'shop mates' had a plan.  Have I mentioned they've done this before?  They knew the perfect time to go and exactly where to park.  I followed along like a little puppy dog on a leash.

We got inside and again WOW!!!  This was not for the faint of heart.  We looked at few things and then got our first beverage.  In my defense, this was breakfast time in most worlds.  I guess you can't shop unless you have a beer.  Well……….  I shopped, I drank and I may never be invited back again.   There are like 1000 vendors or something astronomical like that.   I was so overwhelmed all I could do was walk and stare.  And buy beer at every concession stand I could find.  I am not lying.  I actually had a vendor scared to sell me a picture because she thought I would wreck it before I got it to the car.  By the time we got back to the room, I had lost 3 nails (I am sure they were flying off all over) and an earring and my flannel shirt was half off my shoulder.  Beer and crafts are fun!!   The most fun was going through my bags when I got home and wondering why the hell I bought some of the things I did.

(this picture is of me waiting for the other 3 to finish shopping.  Yep… At the bar)

I also had surgery in November so I couldn't eat my FAVORITE meal of the year.  Thanksgiving.  Ugh.  I did get to enjoy some chicken broth warmed up though.  I pretended it was a turkey leg dipped in gravy and covered in stuffing.  Not exactly the same, but most times anything goes in my head.  Guess I could have had worse.

After my surgery, one of my nurses was commenting on my hospital gown and mentioned that they could fit several of me in the one they gave me.  I thought "What a sweet guy.  Knows just what to say to make a gal feel good about herself."  So as I am sleeping that night, I keep waking up wrapped up in this damn gown and the snaps at my shoulders are undone and everything above my naval is hanging off the side of the bed (good thing they have rails so nothing hits the floor.)  I go into the bathroom lugging my IV (which works best if you unplug it from the wall first) AND my gown is a size 8XL!!!!  Really??   That’s the best you could find??  Come on!!

So….Christmas is now here and so are the joys of finding gifts, planning games, cooking food and stressing over weather!  I am sure I will have some stories of the season and our 4 Christmas's.

Happy Holiday's All!  I will catch you in the new year!!!

Ps…  I haven’t worked out since October and starting up in January.  Stay Tuned!!
